Client: Scientists involved on the Seahawk Cube Satellite Space Mission

Ask: Create an infographic explaining one aspect of the Seahawk Cube Satellite Space Mission (ex. satellite technology, satellite journey, satellite purpose). Present the information in a simplified way such that elementary school students can understand it. Animate the infographic.

Delivered: Static infographic and animation video explaining the importance of the ocean color imagery that the satellite captures.

Process Outline

PHASE ONE: IDEATION

Research the Seahawk mission to gain an initial understanding of the project and prepare questions.

Listen to clients presentation on their work and ask clarifying questions.

Choose one aspect of the mission to focus on and complete further research to fully grasp the topic. Narrow down exactly what information will be presented in the infographic.

Gather imagery inspiration related to chosen topic (ocean color imaging).

PHASE TWO: INITIAL DESIGN

Sketch out options for content organization on paper.

Create initial designs in Adobe Illustrator.

Present to client for feedback.

PHASE THREE: ITERATION

Iterate on initial designs, incorporating feedback from client.

Test designs on intended audience of elementary schoolers to gauge what is working and what is not.

Adjust designs based on the student’s feedback.

PHASE FOUR: ANIMATE

Finalize infographic design.

Brainstorm and storyboard how the infographic will be animated.

Work in Adobe After Effects to create animation.

Find and download available and relevant sound effects and music.

Edit audio quality in Adobe Audition and add to animation.

PHASE FOUR: DELIVER
